As a unique tubular structure, they have a narrow spatial environment, significant light variations, and limited visibility. Unlike the bright and spacious roads outside the tunnel, the process of vehicles entering and passing through a tunnel involves transitioning from bright to dark and then back to bright. This transition requires an adaptation period, during which drivers may have difficulty identifying road targets or objects inside the tunnel, leading to visual and psychological challenges and making driving unsafe. The purpose of tunnel lighting is to create a good visual environment inside the tunnel, ensuring that vehicles traveling at the design speed can safely approach, enter, and pass through the tunnel during both daytime and nighttime.
